BPPD Balikpapan Officially Inaugurated, Two Lecturers from Poltekba Enter Management Representing Academics

The management of the Balikpapan Regional Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD) was officially sworn in at the Balikpapan City Government Hall, Thursday (3/2/2022). The Mayor of Balikpapan, Rahmad Mas’ud, directly inaugurated the management for the 2021-2025 period.

In the management structure, two of them are filled from academics, namely the Balikpapan State Polytechnic lecturer. Is Yogiana Mulyani, MM. Par and Dr. Tuatul Mahfud, S.Pd., M.Pd.

Both filled different positions. For Yogiana Mulyani lined up as treasurer while Dr Tuatul as deputy director of development.

After the inauguration, Yogiana Mulyani said this agency was formed to carry out business and business development in tourism. Now as a field of academics, he said, he was in charge of research and development.

“I am in the policy-making element representing academics. Hopefully with the formation of BPPD Balikpapan, the tourism sector can run and develop. Especially in welcoming IKN,” said Yogiana Mulyani.

Another task, he said, is to formulate technical policies and manage data in terms of business development and tourism business as well as evaluate and prepare reports on the implementation of development work.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tuatul Mahfud added that this promotional agency has an important role in generating tourism in the midst of Covid-19.

“Hopefully in the future it can also make a big contribution to Balikpapan’s PAD,” he said.

After being formed, he said he would hold the nearest event in the form of the Balikpapan Great Sale on 10 February-10 March 2022.

“Hopefully, this program can attract tourists from outside the region to Balikpapan,” hoped Dr. Tuatul Mahfud.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Balikpapan Rahmad Mas’ud inaugurated as many as 35 selected sons and daughters, who were believed to be able to carry out the task of helping boost the city’s economy.

“Although the current trend of Covid-19 is slightly rising, I am sure it will not reduce our enthusiasm to realize the business world, especially tourism in Balikpapan,” said Rahmad Mas’ud on the sidelines of his remarks.

In addition to congratulating, Rahmad also wants the newly inaugurated BPPD administrators to be able to take advantage of the potential as a buffer for IKN, especially since the selected people have proven expertise to promote and market Balikpapan city tourism.
